Overview of Alaska Salmon Fishing Lodge - Luxury

This luxurious Alaska Salmon fishing lodge is accessible from Ketchikan in Southeast Alaska.   Species available in this area include halibut, salmon, rock fish, ling cod, and black bass.  Exclusively sited near Southeast Alaska’s famous Inside Passage, this lodge was once home to a commercial seafood cannery. The cannery prospered because of its location, minutes from the best fishing spots in Southeast Alaska. Today, the artisan hand-crafted Fishing Club is the only lodge on the unpopulated island open to guests.

The location sets this experience apart as most of the best fishing spots are within a 15 – 30 minute boat ride from the lodge.  What does this mean to you?  Let’s say you enjoy some fishing in the morning but want to drop back in for lunch at the lodge?  You can do that!  Maybe you decide that you want a cocktail after lunch, ask your captain to stop back by the dock and your cocktails will be handed to you and off you go.  The location allows for a very flexible schedule.  Add to that a staff eager to please and you have a fantastic combination for an Alaska Salmon fishing lodge filled with luxurious amenities.  If you are entertaining your top corporate clients, you can imaging the impact this level of service imprints on their memories.

All-inclusive packages  feature guided saltwater Alaska saltwater sport fishing and professional seafood processing. Back at the lodge, guests are treated to personalized cuisine with Alaska-inspired fine dining and a hosted open bar. The full service crew is available 24/7 for guests’ every need.

This Alaska sport fishing club accepts reservations for groups up to sixteen guests during the summer fishing season in groups of 4’s (to fill a boat). The location’s privacy makes it the perfect venue for both intimate gatherings of friends and family, and for “outside the box” corporate events.  Like many of the elite luxury fishing resorts in the world, this Alaska sport fishing lodge fills early.  Please book as early as possible for the best date opportunities and to avoid disappointment.

Fishing

FISH OF SE ALASKA Famous for wild Alaska salmon fishing, the fishing near the Club also benefit from an abundant variety of other sport fish, which makes for an exciting adventure on the water. Guests of The Club may catch any of the following species with the support of excellent fishing guides.

King Salmon (Chinook Salmon) Alaska king salmon fishing typically peaks in June when they swim in from the deep ocean to feed and gain mass before spawning. Kings (also called Chinooks) are the largest of the salmon species, averaging 20-40 lbs and usually 3-4’ long. Prized above all other salmon for their flavor, Kings tend to put up a long fight, and the biggest Chinook in these waters was recorded at almost 80 lbs!

Silver Salmon (Coho Salmon) Alaska silver salmon run in late summer during July and August, and are the exciting acrobats of the salmon species. Averaging 8-12 lbs and 2-2.5’ long, Coho often leap entirely out of the water when on the hook. The biggest local silver salmon on record was 22.75 lbs.

Halibut Alaska halibut are extremely popular with seafood lovers. A flat fish that typically lives on the ocean floor, the smaller ones usually have better flavor while a larger “barn door” catch makes for an impressive trophy. Adults can weigh over 300 lbs and grow to over 6’ long. The biggest local halibut on record was 366.8 lbs.

Ling Cod A member of the cod family, Alaska ling cod are found close to shore hiding in rocks and reefs. Adults can reach over 5’ in length. In spite of their size they yield only a small portion of meat after processing, but the mild buttery flavor is considered a delicacy. The biggest ling cod caught locally was almost 70 lbs.

Yelloweye Sometimes dubbed the Alaskan red snapper, the yelloweye is actually a rockfish. Its striking color and delicious flavor make it a popular catch. Typically weighing in at 10-12 lbs, yelloweye are usually about 2’ long. The biggest yelloweye caught in local waters was over 30 lbs.

Pelagic (Coastal) Rockfish There are over 20 other varieties of rockfish that live along the Alaskan coast. Pelagic fish typically swim in the middle of the water column.

Non-Pelagic (Bottom-Dwelling) Rockfish Several additional species of rockfish dwell on the ocean floor, similar to halibut.

Dungeness Crab Popular in the Pacific Northwest for its sweet and delicate flavor, Dungeness crab usually grow to about 8” across the carapace. Guests can lay crab pots in the morning, then later pick up their catch after visiting other fishing spots for the day.

Alaskan Spot Prawn Abundant in southeast Alaska and the largest of the local shrimp species, spot prawn can reach over 12” long and bear distinctive white spots on their sides. Guests can lay shrimp pots in the morning and harvest the catch after a day of fishing.

Equipment Having the right tools makes all the difference. The all-inclusive resort experience at the Club provides guests with all the fishing gear and equipment they need for a truly luxury Alaska fishing trip. The Club’s fishing boats are part of the largest private fleet in Alaska. Each 25’ custom-built aluminum Almar cabin cruiser holds up to four guests and their guide. Dual outboard motors provide superior control and reliability. Seats equipped with shock absorbers cushion the ride over the waves, and on board refrigerators hold freshly made lunch for guests who wish to maximize time on the water (though the lodge is close enough for a quick trip back for a hot lunch, too).

Every boat is equipped with a winch for shrimping and crabbing as well. After arriving quickly at the best fishing spots guests are supplied with Seeker fishing rods, high performance Shimano reels, and Eagle Claw hooks, all prepared and baited by expert U.S. Coast Guard certified fishing guides. The Alaska summer climate is usually temperate but can change from time to time, so they provide stylish Helly Hansen all-weather gear to keep guests warm and dry for any occasion. Need a left-handed reel? Have questions about access? Service at The Club is tailored for the unique interests and needs of each individual guest. Just complete a guest profile let us know.
