Overview of Newfoundland Fishing

Newfoundland fishing since 1986.   The Great Northern Peninsula of Newfoundland has some of the best fly fishing in Canada with species such as Brook Trout, Arctic Char, and Atlantic Salmon (being the main catches).

A typical salmon fishing season will begin as the salmon return to our rivers in late June and run until early September. During these months, our rivers are literally teeming with salmon. Tuckamore Lodge provides the best platform from which to put your angling skills to the test, putting you, our guest at the heart of the action.

Our guides are avid fishermen who are keen to show you the best fishing spots and to assist in landing that salmon. Guests have a superb record of successful fishing trips. If you’d prefer to catch and release, the guides can assist with the correct handling of the fish to ensure its safe return to the water.

The lodge owner takes pride in introducing you to our region….historic fishing villages, world-famous cultural attractions and many natural wonders. Coastal waters are home to numerous species of whales, an annual parade of 10,000-year-old icebergs and millions of seabirds. This area is renowned for its abundant populations of moose, caribou and black bear, as well as rivers that teem with Atlantic Salmon and trout.

From Jiggs dinner to Toutons and molasses to the mug-up, Newfoundland dishes have been handed down for generations and are a hallmark of the province’s hospitality industry. We look forward to hosting you and to making your stay on the Northern Peninsula like a taste of home!
