Hunting
Free Range and Preserver Hunting for Elk:
This lodge offers elk hunts. Elk may be hunted in the high fenced property or free range. The high fenced property is made up of two 3,200 acre properties. It is a real hunt! The free range hunts for elk cover over 30,000 acres. All elk hunts are for five days and six nights. The lowest elevation on the ranch is 8,000 feet, so we urge you to be in good physical condition. Your guide will tailor your hunt to your physical abilities. Since the terrain varies widely, you and your guide will hunt by four-wheel drive vehicle and on foot. The rut or bugling season is around September 20 – October 10.
Hunts can be tailored to your desires. If you are in top physical condition and want to climb the mountains to pursue your trophy, you can. If you prefer four-wheel drive vehicles combined with a spot and stalk style hunt, they can accommodate that as well. Just talk to your guide and let him know how you want to hunt.
One thing you need to consider is that if trophy size is your primary goal, the better your physical conditioning, the better your chance of success. If you are better condition, you will be able to go the remote areas where the big bulls could be hiding out. That’s not to say that a big bull isn’t just around the corner in your four-wheel drive vehicle!
