Uruguay bird hunting
This luxury perdiz, pigeon, and dove hunting estancia is located in the midst of the “Sierra de Minas” hills country only 45 minutes from the airport in Montevideo which offers daily flights from the US. A stream runs lazily through the property which presents stunning landscapes. Incredibly secluded, this estancia is only one hour from Punta del Este which is commonly known as the Riviera of South America. This destination combines great beaches with sophisticated restaurants, casinos, and shopping with fantastic Uruguay bird hunting.
The Uruguay bird hunting lodge was completed in 2013 and has been fully decorated and landscaped by the renowned decorator Carol Raquet. They can accommodate up to 12 hunters distributed among its 8 very comfortable bedrooms.
Perdiz is a world-class upland game bird hunted over well trained Brittany Pointers. These birds hold very well in ground cover that many times is no higher than your ankles. Perdiz do not covey, and are usually flushed as singles, or occasionally in pairs, but they are very challenging. Your mouth will water as our chef serves you a delicious dish of freshly prepared perdiz. Pigeon shooting takes place in harvest corn fields or sorghum plantations over decoys. High volume afternoon dove hunts will leave your gun barrels to hot to touch. Fields and plantations are constantly scouted by experienced guides. One morning of duck hunting can also be a part of the schedule.
Service, luxury and delicious meals at this lodge are the perfect combination for a fantastic all around winghooting experience. Please take a look at the photo section of this destination page to gain an understanding of this lovely Uruguay bird hunting property. Uruguay should be listed among the wingshooting enthusiasts bucket list.

Prime Season: April through July for Perdiz, Pigeon and Dove
Spot-wing and picazuro pigeons are seen mingling with doves everywhere in Uruguay. However, this dedicated pigeon destination offers huge flocks of virtually 100 % pigeons.
Shooting is done over decoys placed on rotating carousels, modeled after those used in Scotland. Expect to shoot 6-8 boxes of shells during a two-hour morning hunt.
The spotted tinamou (common perdiz) are revered upland game birds, hunted over Brittany Pointers with a liberal limit of ten birds per half day hunt. The terrain is always easy-short-grass pastures with no brush. On a very good day, it is possible to see up to 25 points in an hour, making for very exciting action. These birds are usually found in singles or pairs, not large coveys.
Many experienced dove shooters claim that the dove here surpasses in volume and intensity the dove shooting in Cordoba, which has long been considered the world’s foremost dove-shooting destination. That being said, on any given day, Cordoba probably wins out but consider the combination here that makes for a great variety of shooting!
They feed all surrounding ponds within 20 minutes drive for a very light early morning duck shoot just before a perdiz or pigeon hunt. However, for dedicated water fowlers, we still recommend other lodges. This is just a nice addition for variety sake.
GAME BIRDS LIMITS:
- PIGEON: 8 boxes per 1/2 day
- PERDIZ: 10 birds per 1/2 day
- DOVE No limits

While we do everything in our power to protect our clients from travel problems, we cannot prevent illness, natural disasters, wars, deaths, lodge closings and more; we live in uncertain times! The only way to protect yourself and your investment is through travel insurance. Travel insurance can provide medical coverage, cancellation due to natural disaster, illness, death in the family, lodge closings and other unknowns; in this day and time, anything is possible. Lodges count on you to protect your investment as they cannot refund your payments due to the nature of the product they offer.
Finally, travel insurance is time-sensitive and must be purchased within a certain number of days of your deposit to cover preexisting conditions, lodge closings and other various issues. It is still available later but the benefits may be more limited.
Both companies offer evacuation insurance in addition to their travel insurance but Ripcord has more thorough coverage in this area.
The Ripcord membership and travel Insurance provides the highest levels of medical, security, evacuation and rescue services in the industry combined with travel insurance:

- Security extraction services for geopolitical events and natural disasters
- Involuntary detention resolution services for members who are held against their will
- Consulting services from special operations veterans, paramedics, nurses, and physicians
- Travel insurance
