Enjoy a high quality Alaska moose hunt and bear hunt, one-on-one guided and low volume which ensures you an Alaskan Hunting Adventure of a Lifetime!
While there are no guarantees in hunting, this outfitter can guarantee that he will give you a 100% effort to fulfill your Alaska adventure. They maintain an extremely high success rate for their clients through hard work, pride in their trophies and ethical practices. The owner is personally involved in all aspects of the hunt with your satisfaction as his primary goal.
There are two critical reasons we like this owner operated small Alaskan outfitter so much. First is the enormous amount of pre-hunt scouting he does from the air and on the ground prior to your arrival. As a result your first camp location will be where they have seen good activity, not some random spot. Second, he is willing to fly you to a new camp location if things are not going as well as expected. This willingness to move you to another camp can be a vital part of your hunts success. There are many outfitters that will tell you they will move you but they really won’t do it. Several of our clients have been moved resulting in their success!
Your fall Alaska moose hunt and brown bear camps will be located in strategic areas where recent activity has been verified. They hunt trophy brown bears in the beautiful Wood-Tichik State Park, which is the largest state park in North America. They only take 2-4 trophy moose hunters per year! They limit the number of hunts to ensure the best possible trophies.
Spring Brown Bear hunts are conducted on snowmobiles and clients are lodged in a very comfortable remote cabin with hot showers and homemade meals. This is an extremely high success adventure hunt when the weather cooperates! Spring trophy bears tend to have a better coat and success on larger bears between 9 – 10 feet are very possible. Needless to say, coming back to a warm shower, hot meals and a warm bed each night is a huge bonus. This hunt is extremely weather dependent and having flexibility in your schedule is critical. When the snow is great, access by snowmobile is equally fantastic.
Weather in Alaska is ever changing which is a great part of the adventure and can shape the success of any hunt.
A hunt with this Master guide outfitter is a one-on-one, high service Alaskan hunting adventure. They are happy to work with all levels of hunting experience, and to customize the hunt to your needs. A willingness to work hard, persevere, and stay positive are key components of an amazing Alaskan adventure.
Hunting
Spring Brown Bear Hunts: 1×1 Guided / Season – April
Hunts are operated out of a very comfortable cabin located on Alegnagik Lake. After a long day of snowmobiling, it’s nice to come back to a comfortable, warm cabin with hot showers and good meals. The cabin allows you to dry your gear out for the next day. There is usually a lot of snow in the spring, so transportation is mainly snowmobiles and a little snowshoeing. Riding a snowmobile is a lot of fun but does come with some work. Snowshoes, on the other hand, are just work, so being in good physical condition is a big part of your success for this hunt. That being said, Brian consistently has hunters in their 60’s and 70’s come for this hunt. This is a fantastic experience for a chance at a huge bear. Brian only does 4-6 spring hunts each year, so book early.
In the spring you are looking for 9-10+ foot bear. This time of year the bear have great hides and claws but are a little thinner. The largest bears normally are the first to come out of hibernation, while you generally see more numbers later in the season.
Fall Brown Bear Hunts: 1×1 Guided / Season – Late August thru Mid October
Fall Brown Bear hunts are much less physical than spring hunts, but being in great physical shape helps your chances for better bears. You will stay in comfortable remote tent camps in the Wood-Tikchik State Park. They use 8′ Cabela’s dome tents and have cots with nice pads. There will be a generator in camp and a hot water shower. You get good freshly cooked meals, not the freeze dried stuff.
This is not nearly as physically challenging a hunt as most fall bear hunts, but being in great physical shape helps your chances for a better bear. You will float the rivers and lakes looking for a good bear feeding on salmon. Any walking you do would be to stalk a good bear for a shot. Walking typically messes up the hunt because of the scent left behind! It is even possible to take your bear from the boat! A disabled hunter would have a very good chance of success on this hunt.
This is a highly successful hunt to harvest a great trophy bear! This time of year there are good numbers of bear so opportunity rates are high. The bears are much heavier but their coats might be rubbed.
Most bears are taken September through mid-October, though the season runs later. You will arrive one day and settle into camp, hunt 10 full days and depart the next day. 8 – 9 1/2 foot bears are the norm.
Yukon Moose: 1×1 Guided / Season – September 5-15
Alaska-Yukon Moose season is open from September 5th-15th, consisting of eleven full days of hunting. The areas they hunt are the Nushagak River and the Wood-Tikchik State Park. All of the moose hunting is out of tent camps on the rivers and lakes. You will stay in comfortable, remote tent camps where they use 8′ Cabela’s dome tents with cots and nice pads. There will be a generator in camp and a hot water shower if requested for a small fee.
You will be in a boat some of the time to check lake areas. Often you will leave the boat to go to a spot to glass from the mountain tops to the mountains. You will spend quite a bit of time on the mountain tops sitting and glassing. If you see a shooter you might have a long, tough hike to get to him. Your conditioning will determine if you tell your guide let’s go get him or if you say he’s too far! It is very physically challenging walking on the tundra up and down steep hills or mountains. I would mentally and physically plan to hike 3-5 miles per day. Combine all this with Alaska’s unpredictable weather, and this can be a very challenging hunt. 11 days of wind, rain, and 50 degree temperatures requires mental toughness.
Moose are beginning the rut this time of the year so the strategy is mainly calling, spotting and stalking. The hunt usually starts slow since it’s early rut and the bulls don’t respond to calling very well. Hopefully by the last half of the hunt, the conditions are right and the rut has kicked in so you are seeing more bulls and they are responding to calls better. The average moose is 60″ plus with good brow palmation. You arrive on the first day and settle into your tent camp, hunt eleven full days and depart the next day.
This area has a very healthy and thriving moose population. Great trophy bull potential due to very limited hunting pressure. They strive for 60+ inch moose for every client.
Combo Moose/Bear: Season – September 5-15
Dall Sheep Hunting: 1×1 Guided / Season – August 10-20
They hunt sheep in the coveted 14C Drawing area. This is a walk-in only area with very large rams. Application deadlines are December 6th of the previous year of the hunt. We can assist you in the application process. This is a tough draw.
