Fishing
Salmon Fishing:
Protected from Pacific swells with snowy peaks on all sides, the calm passages surrounding the resort offers a West Coast fishing experience that’s unparalleled. Here, it’s not uncommon to catch glimpses of eagles and bears while out to hook a chinook salmon.
With experienced guides, sophisticated gear and a fleet of Grady-White fishing vessels, they provide everything you need for a successful outing. When there’s a bevy of boats out and weather permits, that also includes a beach barbeque lunch on a nearby island to refuel your tank and story swap with fellow guests.
Head out as a twosome or gather a group of up to six in one vessel. Don’t worry if you’re a first timer, they’ll show you the ropes, and the reels.
Helicopter Fly-Fishing:
There are those prime locations in the Pacific Northwest only reached by helicopter and known to a select few—let them fly you in to these tucked-away rivers and lakes to cast, catch and release. You and your fishing crew won’t soon forget it. Naturally, departure times are dependent on weather and visibility.
Make it a 4-hour, 8-hour or multi-day charter and be sure to bring a camera—the landscapes are astonishing.
River Fly-Fishing:
British Columbia’s coast boasts a network of remote and pristine trout and salmon-bearing rivers. Experienced freshwater guides will bring you to the Phillips River by boat to access some beautiful stretches of water. Where possible, they use 18ft jet boat to travel up the lower river, and other times we travel along the river road in our vehicle, and hike through lush old forest to reach our best fishing holes.
Solely catch and release, fishing opportunities change with the seasons, making different species available at different times. In the spring months, we target Rainbow trout and Dolly Varden. When the salmon arrive in summer, we seek Pink and Coho salmon. We schedule the optimal time to head out based on river water levels, weather and tidal conditions.
