Overview of New Zealand Luxury Hunting and Touring

New Zealand luxury hunting

New Zealand luxury hunting

Hunt one of the largest privately owned New Zealand luxury hunting lands for trophy  red stag! Monsters roam this property ranging from 400-700 SCI points, and if you can put a successful stalk on them through the draws and gullies of the property then you may come home with one. Beyond hunting red stag, go after fallow deer, elk, European chamois, Himalayan tahr, ram, goat, and boar. Your guides are experts in the land, climate, and wildlife of New Zealand. They will help you navigate the terrain, climate, and wildlife to give you the best chance of success. If you have an interest in other outdoor sports, wingshooting and fishing may be available depending on the time of your visit.

The lodge is located in Wanaka. Because of this location, they have access to exciting touring options. There are so many activities to choose from that we have created five packages to help you choose from. These packages include activities such as helicopter flights, jetboating, race car driving, spa time, bungee jumping, visiting wineries, cheese tastings, hiking in the Alps, flying through Fiordland National Park, hot air balloon rides, and touring cities. If you want a more extensive touring package than any of the five previously created, we can easily create it for you.

During your time in New Zealand, you will stay in a luxurious lodge tucked in the southern Alps. It has six king-sized bedrooms with either beautiful balconies or access to the flagstone courtyard. The lodge has a heated pool where you can spend your off time as well as a dedicated gun room. Your meals have been created by some of the top chefs in New Zealand and are prepared with fresh ingredients from throughout the country. You will not be disappointed while staying here!

Your group or family will have the trip of a lifetime in New Zealand!

Our Experience at This Lodge

Our time at this New Zealand lodge was next-level. Josie tagged her first red stag after an challenging mountain stalk—an emotional, hard-earned moment that instantly became part of our family’s favorite memories. The lodge hit every mark: warm hospitality, fireside comfort, and meals that rivaled any five-star restaurant.

But it was the helicopter hunts that stole the show. Choppering through snow-covered peaks, hopping in and out for tahr and chamois—adrenaline was sky-high. One flight took us over thundering waterfalls and glaciers before landing on a mountaintop for fresh lobster and champagne overlooking Milford Sound. Unreal.

When we weren’t chasing game, we explored the lakeside town of Wanaka, and sampled world-class wines as we worked our way toward Queenstown. This trip had it all—serious adventure, refined comfort, and unforgettable moments. If you’re looking to raise the bar on your next hunting experience, this is it. Let’s make it happen.

Fishing

Finished your hunt and have more time? If you’re in New Zealand between October and May—this is your shot at some of the most technical and rewarding trout fishing on the planet. You’ll be working the crystal-clear waters of the Southern Alps, where big, wild brown and rainbow trout will test every ounce of your skill.

This is true spot-and-stalk fly fishing. You’ll need stealth, patience, and dead-on precision to land these fish.

Want to take it up a notch? Hop in a helicopter and access untouched rivers deep in the New Zealand backcountry. It’s remote, rugged, and absolutely unforgettable.

Hunting

This land is home to one of the largest privately held red stag herds in all of New Zealand—and it shows. The family behind the operation has spent years managing the herd, improving genetics, and refining their harvest strategy to produce monster stags scoring 400 to over 750 SCI. With two high-country properties spanning 5,000 and 10,000 acres, you’re in for the kind of hard-hitting hunt that delivers both adrenaline and unforgettable trophies.

But it doesn’t stop at red stag. You can also pursue fallow deer, elk, Himalayan tahr, European chamois, ram, goat, and wild boar. For a truly next-level experience, add a helicopter-assisted tahr or chamois hunt. You’ll fly deep into the alpine, glide between razorback ridges, then hit the ground running with your guide for a thrilling spot-and-stalk in some of the most dramatic terrain on the planet.

From May through July, wingshooting heats up—Mallards, Greys, Shovellers, Paradise ducks, Canadian geese, and even Black Swans are all in the mix.

Your guides are as dialed-in as they come—backcountry experts with a great sense of humor, sharp eyes, and a deep understanding of the land.

Located just minutes from the hunting grounds, this luxury lodge offers the perfect balance of rugged adventure and refined comfort. After a day on the mountain or in the field, you’ll appreciate the short drive back—and the warm welcome that awaits.

Designed with the feel of a modern Italian villa, the lodge features six spacious king bedrooms (each with the option of king or twin beds), rich furnishings, en-suite baths, and sweeping views of the Southern Alps. Three rooms open to private balconies upstairs, while three downstairs connect directly to a stone courtyard—ideal for a drink by the fire after a long stalk.

Inside, you’ll find cozy common areas with wood-burning fireplaces, a large dining room, and quiet nooks throughout for relaxing or catching up on the day. Outside, soak in the heated pool, unwind in the sunbathing lounge, or sit fireside and take in the scenery. There’s even a dedicated gun room for secure storage and prep.

Every meal is a highlight—crafted by top-tier chefs using New Zealand’s freshest local ingredients. Sit down in the lodge’s dining room, raise a glass, and trade stories from the day’s hunt. This isn’t just lodging—it’s part of the experience.

Length of Stay / Itinerary

Every itinerary is tailored to your goals—whether you’re here to chase a single trophy or stack multiple species with a side of adventure. Most hunts run 4–7 nights, and we can easily build in extra days for touring before or after your time in the field.

Here’s what a typical trip looks like:

  • Sunday – Arrival
Fly into Queenstown, where you’ll be greeted by your host and transferred by road—or helicopter, if you prefer—to the lodge. Settle in, sight your rifle, and prepare for the days ahead.

  • Monday to Thursday or Saturday – Hunt Hard, Relax Well
Spend your days hunting and your evenings enjoying everything the property has to offer. If you’re targeting red stag only, expect to hunt through Thursday. For multi-species hunts (stag, tahr, chamois, etc.), plan to stay through Saturday.

  • Departure – Return to Queenstown
When the hunt wraps, your host will transfer you back to Queenstown—by vehicle or heli—depending on your preferences and timing.

  • Optional Touring – Extend the Journey
Add 2–5 days to explore New Zealand’s best. Whether it’s luxury lodge hopping, backcountry heli-access adventures, or fly fishing off the grid, we’ll build a touring experience that matches your pace and style.

Note: Helicopter transfers and scenic flights are available and highly recommended for both hunting and touring extensions. Let’s make this a trip you’ll talk about for years.
