Overview of Argentina Pigeon and Dove

Your Complete Argentina Dove and Pigeon Hunting Adventure

Argentina has a way of surprising people. You arrive expecting great shooting, and you find something more complete than you imagined — a rhythm to the days that feels easy, evenings that feel unhurried, and a country that gives you reasons to stay a little longer.

This owner operated dove/pigeon program is based in northern San Luis Province, where the agricultural landscape and natural terrain create the kind of environment that supports both high-volume dove shooting and consistent volume decoy/passing pigeon hunting year after year. The combination isn’t accidental. This territory has been thoughtfully managed for more than two decades, with an annual hunter quota in place to protect pigeon populations — not because regulations require it, but because the team here believes the experience is worth protecting. That kind of long-term thinking shows in the quality of what you’ll find in the field.

Dove days move at a steady, satisfying pace — birds working continuously, a birdboy keeping you in the gun, morning light over open ground. Pigeon days slow things down in all the right ways. You’re in a blind, reading the wind, watching birds work toward decoys. The two styles complement each other naturally, and most travelers find that the variety makes each style of shooting feel more meaningful.

Beyond the field, the lodge is small and personal — five double rooms, an owner who is present throughout your stay, Argentine beef, regional wines, and the kind of dinner table conversation that only happens when the group is the right size and the day has been a good one.  A second lodge only steps from the main lodge offers and additional 3 bedrooms.

What makes this particular program even more compelling is where it sits. This wingshooting experience is the closest Argentina hunting lodge to Mendoza — Argentina’s famous wine country, home to some of the most beautiful vineyard landscapes in the world and a food culture that rivals anywhere we’ve traveled. For couples or mixed-interest groups, that proximity changes the entire shape of the trip. A few days in the vineyards before or after the hunt isn’t a detour — it becomes its own chapter of the journey. Malbec tastings, Andean scenery, unhurried lunches, and the kind of pace that feels like a natural exhale after days in the field.

We can build this trip entirely around shooting, or we can build it around the full Argentina experience — the field, the lodge, and the wine country. Tell us who’s traveling and what matters most to your group, and we’ll design it from there.

Hunting

The lodge has exclusive shooting areas granted by the local government. This means the lodge can control the amount of pressure on the birds to provide the best experience for their guests. Instead of “hoping” to find pigeon like most other Argentina lodges and having 100 pigeon limits per day, this lodge limits the number of pigeon shooters using a shorter season so it can offer a very generous limit of 250 PIGEON per day! DOVE are obviously shoot till your shoulder says stop! 1,000-2,000 shells is realistic for dove.

Pigeon hunts can be passing, shooting feed lots (passing shooting) or when the flying patterns allow to set decoys, you’ll shoot English style pigeon over decoys. Because of traditional flying patterns there is more of a chance to use decoys from April to mid-June, but they use decoys as much as they can the whole season. Passing pigeon shooting is good all season. The “style” of pigeon hunt will be determined each day based on what the birds are doing.

The dove and pigeon are separated in different areas more than you would think so a “dove day” is 95% dove with an occasional pigeon possible. “Pigeon days” are equally focused on pigeon with the possibility of a few more dove mixed in.

The lodge offers 3 program options for your enjoyment: DOVE only, PIGEON only or DOVE + PIGEON COMBO each at a different price point. Combo hunts will be full days of one species or the other.

Each shooting blind will have at least one bird boy, a chair or stool, a cooler with cold water and soft drinks. Your bird boy will have a radio and can help load your gun if you wish. They understand some English but do not speak English so a translation app is helpful.

Drive time to the fields is typically 30-50 minutes.

Lodging

This comfortable lodge located on the edge of a small town has all the comforts of home but with beautiful mountain scenery for your enjoyment. The lodge features 5 spacious double bedrooms each with private bathroom and 2-double beds. There are large comfortable seating areas to enjoy at the end of a fun day and a covered patio outside to enjoy the view.

Along with the outdoor covered patio, there is a fire pit, swimming pool and roof top sitting area for great views. There is a masseuse in the nearby town. The lodge recommends booking him prior to your arrival to ensure availability.

Delicious chef prepared meals, famous Mendoza wines and a great staff make for a wonderful Argentinian experience.

For larger groups needing private rooms there is a very comfortable 3-bedroom home just steps away from the lodge. All meals will be at the main lodge.
