Hunting Overview: RIFLE ONLY
This is your classic western style Colorado spot & stalk hunt driving in trucks or ATV’s, hiking and glassing. And yes, you can enjoy an old fashioned horseback hunt if you wish. These are experienced, good horses but obviously you need some experience riding.
Offering a limited number of hunts each year means minimal pressure on the game and lots of room for the hunter. There are only 2 deer hunters in camp at a time and a maximum of 4 elk hunters.
Rifle mule deer hunters have been 100% successful and elk hunters have been 85% successful.
Elk hunts: there is a large, thriving local elk herd on this ranch that provides you with the chance to bag a beautiful elk. The lodge only offers 15 bulls each year to minimize the hunting pressure. Realistic expectations are a bull in the 260-300 gross SCI range with some up to 330 gross SCI. Their best bull was 310.
Bow hunters should plan a date mid-September or later to avoid summer heat and to be closer to the prime bugle. Bow hunters will enjoy the fun and excitement of spot & stalk/ calling these bulls. Hunting in pop-ups over watering holes is an option as well.
Mule Deer hunts: While overall numbers here are less than some other places, this ranch and general area have a great history for some great mule deer. The lodge only offers 4-6 bucks each year to continue to improve the overall trophy quality. November is prime rut.
Historically bucks range from 170-180’s gross SCI with 190’s possible. Best is about 190 B&C.
Season: Mid October to Mid November
