Namibia Hunting Safari Tent Camp

Overview

Namibia Hunting Safari Tent Camp

This is the classic African Namibia hunting safari experience of the 1940s and 50s. All hunting is spot and stalk with seasoned professional hunters, trackers and drivers! Peter, your host and professional hunter, has 300,000 acres of free range hunting at base camp. Other concessions add greatly to this number.

Peter was born in 1945 and grew up in East Africa, Kenya. He was fortunate to have grown up with some of Africa’s great, old time professional hunters such as Eric Rundgren, John Cook, Bill Ryan and John Dugmore and was able to accompany them on safaris. By 1962 He started shooting dangerous game, mainly elephant and buffalo that were damaging crops and leopards that killed livestock.Namibia Hunting Safari Tent Camp

In 1967 Peter married the daughter of Fred Bartlett, author of “Shoot Straight and Stay Alive.” They run the hunting operation together in Namibia, previously South West Africa.

Many hunting operations in Africa are large and have many different groups at one time hunting the same concessions. This professional hunter (PH) takes one group at a time and only accommodates 8 clients. If your group is more than 4 hunters, hunters will be paired 2×1 with a PH. They can accommodate 4 PH’s in camp at a time. You or your group will not have anyone else in camp during your stay! If you are one hunter, the camp is all to yourself, if you are 6 hunters, the camp is all to yourselves!

Tiger fishing camp is operated by Peter’s son and makes for a fantastic adventure add-on or stand alone trip.  Thatched stilted tents along the river make for exciting accommodations.  Tiger fish are an exciting fish to catch.  Be ready for a fight and an explosive burst from the water.

TRAVEL INSURANCE:  REQUIRED!

Links to the companies we recommend:

Travelex Insurance       Ripcord Insurance

While we do everything in our power to protect our clients from travel problems, we cannot prevent illness, natural disasters, wars, deaths, lodge closings and more; we live in uncertain times!  The only way to protect yourself and your investment is through travel insurance. Travel insurance can provide medical coverage, cancellation due to natural disaster, illness, death in the family, lodge closings and other unknowns; in this day and time, anything is possible.  Lodges count on you to protect your investment as they cannot refund your payments due to the nature of the product they offer.

Finally, travel insurance is time-sensitive and must be purchased within a certain number of days of your deposit to cover preexisting conditions, lodge closings and other various issues.  It is still available later but the benefits may be more limited.

Both companies offer evacuation insurance in addition to their travel insurance but Ripcord has more thorough coverage in this area.

The Ripcord membership and travel Insurance provides the highest levels of medical, security, evacuation and rescue services in the industry combined with travel insurance:

  • Remote rescue services from point of injury or illness
  • Medical evacuations to the member’s home hospital of choice
  • The best evacuation and rescue triggers that include rescues for medical conditions that will result in permanent injury in addition to just requiring hospitalization
  • Security extraction services for geopolitical events and natural disasters
  • Involuntary detention resolution services for members who are held against their will
  • Consulting services from special operations veterans, paramedics, nurses, and physicians
  • Travel insurance
