Georgia Luxury Quail Hunt SW
Here at this Georgia luxury Quail hunt Plantation they do one thing, and they do it well. They offer Traditional Bobwhite Quail Hunting. In the geographic heart of Georgia’s Classic Southern Quail Habitat. No one does it quite the same. And most certainly, no one does it better. No where in the south will you find a finer luxury quail hunt!
Georgia luxury Quail hunting here is unlike any other quail hunting you might have ever known and harkens back to a more genteel era. This is wingshooting as it once was, when sportsmen by day matched wits with wild birds in their native environs…and by night enjoyed fine dining, gracious service and luxurious surroundings. Plantation-style, challenging quail hunting remains alive.
Hunts are customized to the individual hunting party. With over thirty hunting quail-hunting2areas, extended visits provide the opportunity to experience a variety of terrains from pristine Longleaf pine forests to gently rolling wiregrass meadows along both sides of the picturesque Flint River.
Specially equipped jeeps transport hunters, guides, and dogs to fresh hunting areas every morning and afternoon. You will simply love this unspoiled scenery and classic South Georgia Quail Hunting landscape, with the Flint River running thru the heart of the Plantation.
The dining has been described as “Relaxed 5-Star” and truly sets us apart from all other Georgia wingshooting lodges. The total Quail Hunting Experience at this Plantation is unlike any other Quail Hunting you might have ever known and hearkens back to a more genteel era, when the Quail were your longstanding neighbors and the coveys had names and the hunting was free and unconfined, as natural as lifting your shotgun and vest from the corner rack and heading afield after a long, lingering, hot Southern breakfast.
Now, this may seem to be an easy thing to say, but it is absolutely true, due in large part to both our GEOGRAPHIC and TOPOGRAPHIC location. And of course, their uncompromising commitment to the enjoyment and fulfillment of You, dear Friends and Guests.
You see, this Plantation is uniquely located in the very heart of the Classic Plantation Belt which stretches for roughly 100 miles through southern Georgia and into north Florida. The population density of Bobwhite Quail here is unlike that of any other place on earth. This is the very Epicenter of the Quail Hunting Universe, encompassing nearly 100 contiguous or near-contiguous large plantations, most of whom are completely private and date back to the Reconstruction Era.
And this plantation sits dead center in the heart of it all.
No other publicly accessible hunting plantation is so strategically positioned. No other publicly accessible hunting plantation is so completely surrounded by the huge PRIVATE hunting estates.
And no other publicly accessible hunting plantation offers the steady stream of indigenous birds that we encounter here.
Geographically, this is simply where the Quail have always been and where they CONTINUE to be, in gratifying abundance.
South Georgia has been famous for its bobwhite quail hunting for more than a century. The Plantation is located in the heart of plantation country on the banks of the Flint River. Hunting opportunities abound on both sides of the river which runs through the plantation. The birds – canny, quick and woods-wise bobwhite quail – lurk in unspoiled pine savannahs, amid rolling hardwood uplands, meadows and understories of broom sedge and wiregrass. Expert quail hunting guides will lead you through their haunts with well trained dogs.
Your quail hunting experience will be customized to the individual hunting party. The hunts can range from one to five days. With over twenty quail hunting areas, extended visits provide the opportunity to experience a variety of terrains. Specially equipped jeeps transport hunters, dogs and guides into the various areas. Morning hunts begin after breakfast and conclude around 12:00. Lunch is served around 1 p.m. Afternoon hunts run from 2-5 p.m
A handsome two-story lodge replaces the original plantation house, which, like many of its contemporaries, was destroyed by fire. The new two story lodge boasts many updated amenities that will immerse you in the traditional southern hospitality and charm for which this area is renowned.
They also offer well-appointed cabins that can accommodate small groups. Groups of 16 (single occupancy) or 25 (double occupancy) may have exclusive use of the lodge. The dining is in a class all of its own and truly sets this apart from all other Georgia wingshooting lodges.
If you prefer dining alone with your group, they offer a private dining room with doors that close. They have one room with a couple of tables for groups of four to eat together. This room connects to another dining room that has a big table for 8-10 guests.

While we do everything in our power to protect our clients from travel problems, we cannot prevent illness, natural disasters, wars, deaths, lodge closings and more; we live in uncertain times! Finally, travel insurance is time-sensitive and must be purchased within a certain number of days of your deposit to cover preexisting conditions, lodge closings and other various issues. It is still available later but the benefits may be more limited.
Both companies offer evacuation insurance in addition to their travel insurance but Ripcord has more thorough coverage in this area.

This is the 10th year in a row that my wife and I have been to this lodge. We have been to other Georgia plantations to shoot birds as well. No other place measures up…. The design of the Lodge is such that it affords areas for small or large private groups to gather to visit or to dine as well as areas that are inviting to share with other guests to meet and make new friends. The rooms are nice and the beds are great. The meals that Chefs Dirk and Denise prepare are consistently wonderful. The staff are warm and friendly and make you feel like you are at home. The guides and their dogs are consistently super. The large size and diversity of the hunting areas and management of the plantation grounds are first class. I have shot at many fine places in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, South America, Africa, Scotland, and the United Kingdom. I rate Rio with the best of them. Thanks go out to Rio owners, Annie and Bill Atchison, and Hunt Master Lynn Gray who have continued to add various new embellishments to the Rio experience each year. We hope to be going to Rio for many more years to come.
This plantation, owners, and staff in my opinion, provide the finest quail hunting that I have experienced in over 40 years of wild quail hunting. Their attention to safety, personal attention, and detail made our hunt more than memorable. The terrain is perfect quail habitat, the guides and dogs excellent, and the food was outstanding.
There is absolutely NOTHING anyone could do to try to improve…
The accommodations are as if you’re staying in Ralph Lauren’s personal home while being ‘Disneyland clean’. The cuisine is not just to satisfy your hunger after a long hunting session, it’s an exceptionally fabulous dining experience. The Guides and their incredibly talented, friendly and well trained dogs not only make the hunt exciting, they make it FUN! Oh, I could go on and on, but my point is that this annual trip is one I look forward to all year long.

Absolute attention to detail from the minute you drive on the property. The accommodations and staff were tremendous. The food is very good and well thought out. Our guide (Drew) was outstanding to hunt with. It was fun to bring customers and friends and have a great time shooting quail.
The best two days of camaraderie and opportunity to leave work behind. Great meals, hunting staff, dogs and hosts.
This was my fourth visit…. and every time I come it gets better. The hunting was epic with great and entertaining guide work and the best dogs I’ve hunted with in years. From the steak dinner and the premium drinks to the sausage gravy and biscuits that make your mouth water the food never disappoints. Comfortable cabins and a lovely atmosphere round this out to make it the finest operation one could find to hunt Georgia quail. If quail hunting is your gig then you will enjoy this operation!
Cleveland, Ohio 2014
Great place to take customers. Food is fantastic, lodging is first class, and great dogs. Our guide at times got frustrated when we didn’t shoot at what I considered a low bird – nobody wants to take a dog home.

The lodging, food, staff service and ambience are the best we’ve experienced. The hunting was very good, with friendly guides and generally good dog work. Plenty of birds and good cover although you should bring your chaps (briars). Altogether a first class experience.
